Berry Skewers With White Chocolate Drizzle

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!  And what’s a holiday celebration without a little festive food?  These little darlings are the perfect addition to your weekend plans…aren’t they cute?

Proof that this could be the most easy recipe you’ll ever make:  My 4 year old, Georgia, knocked these out.  Start to finish.  Didn’t she do great?!  Aside from me melting the chocolate, she skewered them and drizzled them…all while eating a good 17 pounds of berries and approximately 9 spoonfuls of chocolate.  Hows that for multi-tasking?

And these skewers are just as yummy as they are pretty.  I mean whats not to love about fresh juicy berries and silky, melted white chocolate?  Red, white and blue at its finest.

SONY DSCThey’re perfectly transportable for your picnic or bbq plans and make the cutest homemade hostess gift.  And if your weekend plans are low-key like ours, these are just a darn fun, quick kitchen project to dive into with the kiddos.

SONY DSCHave a safe, fun, LONG weekend, friends.  So many to remember and feel gratitude for on this special holiday!

Berry Skewers With White Chocolate Drizzle

Ingredients

1 Pint Blueberies

1 Pint Strawberries, stems removed and halved

4 Ounces White Chocolate, chopped (or white chocolate chips)

Appetizer Skewers

Directions

Alternate blueberries and strawberries on skewers.

Melt white chocolate either in the microwave or a double boiler.

For Microwave:  Melt chocolate in 30 second increments, stirring in between, until chocolate is silky and just melted.

For Double Boiler:  Add one inch of water to a large saucepan and set the pan on the stove over medium high heat and bring to a simmer. Set a heatproof bowl inside the saucepan (I use glass); be sure that the bottom of the bowl is not touching the water, you just want the steam from the water to heat the chocolate in the bowl. Place the white chocolate in the bowl and melt, stirring often, until chocolate is smooth and silky.

Using a fork, drizzle the white chocolate all over the skewers. Chill in the refrigerator to set/store.

When I saw this simple, elegant recipe I knew I must re-blog it. What a lovely red, white and blue dessert. Perfect for a little something sweet after a meal and great for summer entertaining. Check out nourishedpeach.com – a terrific blog!

  2. Wow, doesn’t that look super easy and yummy!!! I’m definitely trying this out the coming weekend… I come across these delicious things and recipes but when I stand in the kitchen wondering what I want to cook or what would please my palette today, I always draw a blank!!! I need to note this one down 😉 thanks so much for the yummy easy recipe 😀

  3. These are amazingly cute! A friend of mine apparently doesn’t eat any bad food (she always declines, but she used to run on national level so maybe it’s just her being used to eating healthy) and her birthday is coming up, so I was thinking of a light and fruity cake. These would be the perfect decoration for it!
And the pics are soooo pretty! Alright, gotta keep browsing through your blog some more, so I’ll stop ranting here,,,
    Greetings from the student kitchen,
