Apple Cinnamon Pastries

It’s starting to officially feel like fall, guys! How have you been celebrating? Give me all the warm coffee, crunchy leaves, cool, refreshing air, pumpkins, corn mazes, scenic colors that will blow your mind…and APPLES! It’s all happening in our neck of the woods and if I could just pile on an extra couple months of this stuff I’d be one over-the-moon mama. Minnesota truly feels like the most magical place this time of year.

We had our annual apple orchard trip a couple weeks ago and, well, if you know me you know that it’s my very favorite family outing of the year. Being stuck in the middle of nowhere surrounded by the most incredible scenery with my four favorite humans just simply isn’t a terrible way to spend a Saturday. We got to show the baby all the ropes this year…and man the big kids are becoming pro pickers! Here are a few photos from the day Continue reading

No-Bake Peanut Butter Chocolate Bites

SONY DSCYou aren’t going to believe these.  Truly.

Let’s just start with the fact that they involve only 6 simple ingredients.

And then lets discuss the fact that there is no cooking involved.  Or blending.  Or pureeing.  Or effort.  None.

SONY DSCAnd then let’s talk about how much more healthful they are than your typical store-bought white sugar packed peanut butter chocolate granola bars.

Spiced Plum Cake

If you have been following along here for a while you have probably realized that refined sugar and flour recipes don’t come around Nourished Peach much.  Quite frankly, this could be the very first one I have ever written about.  But just hear me out.

We eat well.  And by we, I mean my family at home and you, my NP family.  We do, we pack our every day diets with color and nutrients and protein and diversity.   Not because we want to see the scale drop or because we are trying to stay hip to new diet trends; because we care for our bodies, we care about the food we eat and because we get pleasure from gorgeous, enjoyable meals.  Food, with NP, is not only about fueling our bodies.  It’s about seriously enjoying the process of preparing the food and the gratification of the finished, delicious product.  And more than anything, to me, it is about sharing that finished product with the people I love most.  It’s about feeding bellies and souls.  Cooking is my favorite way to show love, and enjoying a meal with my friends and family is my favorite way to spend time.   Having all of those wonderful reasons we eat well allows us the ability to avoid diet rollercoasters, deprivation and unhealthful relationships with food.   Continue reading

Sweet Mango Refresher

SONY DSC

I had a sick little boy last week.  Poor guy had a super sore throat and it was such a struggle to get him to eat because of the pain.  So thats when this Sweet Mango Refresher was born.  Complete success.

I wasn’t quite sure what to call this one.  It’s like a cross between sorbet, frozen yogurt and a slushy all in one.  My kids call it ice cream.  I call it a bowl of refreshing bliss.   Continue reading

Dark Chocolate Chip Spice Muffins

SONY DSC

Man can breakfasts get mundane in my home.  Finding something thats quick and healthful while still tasting yummy for the kiddos can be quite the challenge.  I am thankful they love eggs in all shapes and forms but, as it is, we darn near need to buy a family of chickens to keep up with that whole deal.

Sweet treats can be so fun for breakfast…and these muffins fit right in that category.  My kids love my pumpkin muffins and sometimes for something fun I add in chocolate chips. So I thought…if pumpkin is so yummy in a baked good, why wouldn’t sweet potato be? Continue reading
