A Wonderful, New Opportunity

Friends, new things are on the horizon, and I just couldn’t wait to share what’s happening with you any longer.  How long have we been together now?  Some of us for almost four years, no? Can you believe that?  Let me just say that your support has made so many opportunities possible for me and I feel beyond grateful for that.  And I’m so excited to share the latest of those opportunities, one that is already so near and dear to my heart.

As you likely know by now, I am all about the 80/20 rule.  80% of the time I strive to keep myself and my family living a healthful, nourishing life.  And that leaves 20% to just simply “do what feels good or right”.  Some of you may not agree with this mentality, but it is most definitely what works for me and helps me keep things manageable and achievable in everyday life.  You already know we eat this way; we fill our everyday diets with mostly good but indulging a little is totally acceptable.  Continue reading

6 Simple, Fun Ways to Get Your Kiddos Involved in the Kitchen

SONY DSC

Guys!  My mama is here!  Like, at my house!  And because there is just SO darn many things to accomplish in her short trip here {i.e.: loving on my kiddos, coffee-sipping, staying up too late gabbing, shopping, donuts, playgrounds + parks, you know, all the good stuff} I haven’t had a chance to edit the recipe photos I intended on sharing with you today. But I’ve got something fun, nonetheless.   Continue reading

Friends, I’ve got something to chat with you about.  As mushy as it may sound, I value you.  I am fortunate to have your support of NP.  I love to hear from you.  And I listen to every ounce of your feedback and input with this whole thing.  Changes may be coming-nothing major, but I can’t innovate and keep things fresh around here without your assistance.   Continue reading

Sprouted Grain Breadcrumbs

SONY DSC

There is so much going on out there in the world of food and nutrition.  Our society has made some great progress when it comes to educating ourselves on what we are feeding our bodies.  The marketing companies have also become even smarter….they’ve got most of us wrapped around their fingers.  Whole grain, whole wheat, all natural, gluten free….the minute we see these words we often perk up and assume these things are healthy for us.  Wrong.  So very wrong.   And all of the diets.  The Atkins Diet.  The Low Carb Diet.  The Gluten Free Diet.  The Paleo Diet.  This challenge.  That challenge.  The Problem?  The word diet, unrealistic guidelines and the notion that a quick fix is on the way.  It strikes a cord with me.  People, because its human nature, commit to these “diets” and once they get off track for even a split second all hell breaks loose.  They either guilt themselves and deprive themselves or completely give up on their “diet” and regress or binge.  So if these diets work for you…I apologize.  You do what you do and I’ll do what I do. Happy Thursday, my dears!

Quick note…if you are interested in following an awesome new blog that I am THRILLED to be a part of now is your chance.  Twin Cities Moms Blog.  The name is a bit deceiving…there is definitely a ton to offer for those of you who are not moms and do not live in the Twin Cities.  It is a bit of a variety blog…there are 13 contributors, including myself, and two amazing co-founders who saw the need for such a site here in the Minneapolis area.  Each contributor is so talented in their own way and shares such great ideas with regard to DIY projects, fashion, parenting tips and perspectives, health and beauty, recipes, restaurants to visit, date night ideas, happenings in the area, the list could go on and on and on..and you’re seriously going to dig it.  Such a fun new adventure for me…I’d love for you to come along for the ride!

Here is a link to my article about coconut oil that was published on the site today…thought it would be fitting to share it with you, my fellow food and health enthusiasts.  Hope you’re staying warm and cozy…and if you are in a location that requires cooling off please do not tell me that or it may make me turn on you 😉

…And Then There Were Four

I have a confession.  I had this fear throughout my entire pregnancy that I wouldn’t have enough space in my heart to love another child as much as Georgia.  I knew I would love him but was concerned that I wouldn’t have the same burn-your-heart, over-the-top, out of control kind of love that I have for her.  Let me tell you, the minute he blessed this world on 12.14.13 every concern I had was thrown out the window…and driven over with an infinite amount of semi trucks.  Wow.

So friends, let me introduce to you the newest peach I have been blessed enough to nourish.  Jude Robert.  7 Pounds 10 Ounces of pure, innocent, unbelievable perfection.  Our family could not feel an ounce more love for him…he fits like a glove 🙂
