So there’s this adorable coffeeshop called Pierce Street Coffeworks in the town I grew up in.  Many of our “half days” of highschool ended with lunch at this cute little spot-which, now that I think back, was nearly 17 years ago…what?! Can somebody please recalculate and tell me I’m wrong here?

On top of great coffee the atmosphere was full of art and color…and the sandwiches on the menu were pretty stellar, too.  The Nutty Bird used to be my go-to.  So so delish.  And every year on the day after thanksgiving I use my leftovers to take me back to that place of nostalgia.  Oh my is it yummy.   Continue reading →

Slow Cookers.  They can be such a time and sanity saver.  But, as you know, I’m really finicky about what I put in them-I believe it’s my controlling food nature.  When I put something in the slow cooker I’ve lost control.  There’s no seasoning as you go, there’s no stirring, there’s no adding this or that.  It’s a hands off,  no-control zone for me.  So recipes I put in mine have to be precise…and special…and worthy.  This ones there.   Continue reading →

Cucumber, Apple and Bacon Salad

This is a fun switch to a classic summer side dish.   Theres so much you can do with this recipe…adding bleu cheese or celery to the mix is wonderful, dried cranberries or cherries instead of apple is pretty delish, too.  But this right here is my favorite variation; crunchy, fresh cucumber, sweet, crisp apple, and smokey bacon make an awesome team paired with the creamy, tangy dressing.   Continue reading →
