‘The Nutty Bird’ Sandwich

SONY DSC

So there’s this adorable coffeeshop called Pierce Street Coffeworks in the town I grew up in.  Many of our “half days” of highschool ended with lunch at this cute little spot-which, now that I think back, was nearly 17 years ago…what?! Can somebody please recalculate and tell me I’m wrong here?

On top of great coffee the atmosphere was full of art and color…and the sandwiches on the menu were pretty stellar, too.  The Nutty Bird used to be my go-to.  So so delish.  And every year on the day after thanksgiving I use my leftovers to take me back to that place of nostalgia.  Oh my is it yummy.   Continue reading

Sweet, Salty, Antioxidant Rich Snack Mix + Thanksgiving Meal Inspiration

SONY DSC

I planned on just leaving you with a bit of Thanksgiving meal inspiration today.  I did.  But it felt wrong, you know, not sharing a new recipe and all.  It felt like going to a dinner party empty handed.  No dish to share, no bottle of wine or even fresh flowers.  It felt icky.  So it’s not going to happen.  This snack mix is your hostess gift.  I hope you like it 😉 Continue reading

Slow Cooker Chicken and Poblano Stew

SONY DSC

Slow Cookers.  They can be such a time and sanity saver.  But, as you know, I’m really finicky about what I put in them-I believe it’s my controlling food nature.  When I put something in the slow cooker I’ve lost control.  There’s no seasoning as you go, there’s no stirring, there’s no adding this or that.  It’s a hands off,  no-control zone for me.  So recipes I put in mine have to be precise…and special…and worthy.  This ones there.   Continue reading

Balsamic, Buttermilk and Bleu Tomato Salad

Try saying that 3 times quickly.

This number right here is borderline too inappropriate to write about.  Its over the top.  Savory, sweet, acidic, pungent, bright.

Lets just hold the phone.   Continue reading

Watermelon + Feta Salad With Balsamic Glaze

SONY DSC

Oh boy, you guys.  Talk about an end-of-summer celebration.  This, right here, is just that.  I am constantly looking for ways to utilize that giant watermelon I often buy this time of year and, well, Im just regretful that I haven’t tried this sooner.   Continue reading

Ranch Seasoning Mix

If you are searching for an alternative to that preservative-filled, store bought ranch seasoning mix,  look no further.  My guess is you already have all of the ingredients siting in your pantry and it couldn’t be more simple to put together. Continue reading

Cucumber, Apple and Bacon Salad

SONY DSC

This is a fun switch to a classic summer side dish.   Theres so much you can do with this recipe…adding bleu cheese or celery to the mix is wonderful, dried cranberries or cherries instead of apple is pretty delish, too.  But this right here is my favorite variation; crunchy, fresh cucumber, sweet, crisp apple, and smokey bacon make an awesome team paired with the creamy, tangy dressing.   Continue reading
