I like these. I reeeeaaaalllly like these.

This boring old tomato had been staring me in the eye for days and I finally caved. I knew it wasn’t the kind of tomato that was worthy of being eaten alone with a little salt. After all, it is March. But I needed to utilize it in some way. So I sliced it up and away to the oven it went for a roast. Continue reading

Good old kale. It’s wonderful. It’s versatile. It’s full of so many fantastic nutrients. The total package. I’ve always adored it; for salads, wilting into soups and stews and so much more. But I have got to say this Kale with Lemon Cream Sauce is up there high on my list of very favorite side dishes. Continue reading

I kind of feel like just letting the pictures talk to you today, friends. Eat with your eyes, it’s so darn fun. But don’t leave your belly hanging…get these on your Super Bowl menu this year. So good. Continue reading

So I’ve got this thing for these one pot pasta deals that have been floating around the internet over the last couple of years. Remember this one? Well, I haven’t stopped experimenting. Continue reading

Well, my guess is, by now, you have gathered that soups are kind of my thing. We just click well, for so many reasons.
I love to make them as I go, adding this, that or whatever is left sitting in my fridge or pantry-it’s like piecing together a flavor puzzle; the pieces being whats available in your kitchen. It teaches me so many dynamics about true cooking. What pairs well together, which flavors and textures don’t mesh. Soups and stews tend to be my best learned lessons-and provide me my most creative time in the kitchen, which I love. Continue reading

I sit here with the intent of being a good friend. I really do. I want to know how your holidays were. I want to know about your resolutions. The wonderful things you ate. How much you {hopefully} enjoyed a little time off. I do. But I can’t.
I can’t possibly sit here with this little gem dangling over my head and write, even think, about anything else. This gem I write of is called Shrimp and Cauliflower ‘Grits’ you guys. And I have got to get over it. It’s becoming a problem.
Let’s just get right down to it. Continue reading

Breakfasts can get a bit monotonous in my home. This Apple Pie Oatmeal is a favorite of my kids and an awesome way to switch things up from these, these and these breakfast favorites around here.
My four year old named this simple, healthy, quick number “Apple Pie Oatmeal” and for very valid reasons. It’s rich, comforting and has all those wonderful flavors that apple pie has to offer without all of the hassle and useless ingredients. Continue reading

Ladies and Gentleman of the Delicious Food Nation please rise…
We are gathered here today to witness the union of Roasted Chicken, Pomegranate Relish and Tahini Sauce in holy matrimony, which is an honorable estate, that is not to be entered into lightly, but reverently and soberly. Well, if you want to pair it with a fine white wine that would be okay. Continue reading

So there’s this adorable coffeeshop called Pierce Street Coffeworks in the town I grew up in. Many of our “half days” of highschool ended with lunch at this cute little spot-which, now that I think back, was nearly 17 years ago…what?! Can somebody please recalculate and tell me I’m wrong here?
On top of great coffee the atmosphere was full of art and color…and the sandwiches on the menu were pretty stellar, too. The Nutty Bird used to be my go-to. So so delish. And every year on the day after thanksgiving I use my leftovers to take me back to that place of nostalgia. Oh my is it yummy. Continue reading
