I sit here today with a big fat leftover bowl of this on my lap and a giant forkful in my mouth. It’s a good thing this blogging deal isn’t live and in video…you would question so very many things about me; including but not limited to: my upbringing (potentially questioning whether or not I was raised by wolves), if, in fact, I actually feed myself real human food on a regular basis (because the shoveling would lead one to believe genuine starvation could be a factor in this picture) or, if I treated myself to take out for lunch (from a very fresh, hip, homegrown-type of joint). I hope your weekend was filled with so much love, friends! We had a great one…that consisted of much needed time out with friends, a lot of QT with the kids, all things heart shaped, sledding and…the only thing that should ever proceed a sledding experience..hot cocoa! Continue reading
Kale with Lemon Cream Sauce

Good old kale. It’s wonderful. It’s versatile. It’s full of so many fantastic nutrients. The total package. I’ve always adored it; for salads, wilting into soups and stews and so much more. But I have got to say this Kale with Lemon Cream Sauce is up there high on my list of very favorite side dishes. Continue reading
Chocolate Covered Strawberry Hearts

The love is officially being spread, you guys.
I’m sure I’ve told you before…my kids are crazy people for chocolate covered strawberries. Like, to the point of requesting them for their birthdays instead of cake. The love is real. Continue reading

Southwest Chorizo and Bean Soup

Well, my guess is, by now, you have gathered that soups are kind of my thing. We just click well, for so many reasons.
I love to make them as I go, adding this, that or whatever is left sitting in my fridge or pantry-it’s like piecing together a flavor puzzle; the pieces being whats available in your kitchen. It teaches me so many dynamics about true cooking. What pairs well together, which flavors and textures don’t mesh. Soups and stews tend to be my best learned lessons-and provide me my most creative time in the kitchen, which I love. Continue reading
Open Faced Roasted Salmon Salad Sandwich

I once wrote an article about the positives of having a traveling husband. And I totally forgot to include a very important perk.
When your husband travels, particularly to Seattle, he feels terribly bad that you are missing out on all the ‘fun’ so he has fresh fish from Pike Place Market sent home for you. That Nickyboy. He’s a total winner. Continue reading
