Cinnamon Apple Pear Sauce

Look, you guys

It’s here. My most favorite, beautiful, scenic time of year. I told the kids it was supposed to snow this week so we had to ask Alexa when the first technical day of winter is. Do you want to know what she said? December 21st. Yet we have snow in the forecast for today, November 6. You try explaining all of this to a 4 year old. Why oh why can’t crispy, cool autumn fulfill its assigned 3 full months?! Winter is so dang greedy and aggressive around hereūüôĄ

But we certainly won’t stop celebrating autumn in this house until that far away day in December…and this yummy Cinnamon Apple Pear Sauce will certainly be a constant in our fridge. I’m addicted. My kids could take down an entire batch in one sitting. I even got a “I want to eat this every day of my life!” from Jude. Winning.

Apple Cinnamon Pastries

It‚Äôs starting to officially feel like fall, guys! How have you been celebrating? Give me all the warm coffee, crunchy leaves, cool, refreshing air, pumpkins, corn mazes, scenic colors that will blow your mind…and APPLES! It‚Äôs all happening in our neck of the woods and if I could just pile on an extra couple months of this stuff I‚Äôd be one over-the-moon mama. Minnesota truly feels like the most magical place this time of year.

We had our annual apple orchard trip a couple weeks ago and, well, if you know me you know that it‚Äôs my very favorite family outing of the year. Being stuck in the middle of nowhere surrounded by the most incredible scenery with my four favorite humans just simply isn‚Äôt a terrible way to spend a Saturday. We got to show the baby all the ropes this year…and man the big kids are becoming pro pickers! Here are a few photos from the day Continue reading

Apple Pie Oatmeal

Breakfasts can get a bit monotonous in my home.  This Apple Pie Oatmeal is a favorite of my kids and an awesome way to switch things up from these, these and these breakfast favorites around here.

My four year old named this simple, healthy, quick number “Apple Pie Oatmeal” and for very valid reasons. ¬†It’s rich, comforting and has all those wonderful flavors that apple pie has to offer without all of the hassle and useless ingredients. ¬† Continue reading

Cinnamon Pear Sauce

So friends, as you may remember, I am a total fan of homemade applesauce. ¬†It’s unbeatable‚Ķstore bought varieties just don’t compare. ¬†Not to mention when you make it homemade you’re not stripping away a ton of the nutrients through processing and preserving. ¬†I’m just sold on the whole deal, especially considering how simple it is to prepare at home.

Now,¬†theres a couple of kinds of food love, in my book. ¬†Theres being a¬†total fan, as I told you I was of the applesauce in the paragraph above. ¬†And then theres¬†Hallelujah, over the moon, this-is-out-of-control, party-don’t-stop¬†food love. ¬†This Cinnamon Pear Sauce? ¬†I would classify it under the latter. ¬† Continue reading

Summer is a favorite time of mine, as a reader, in the blogging world.  Regardless of what the blog focus is, at some point, writers tend to share some sort of piece of their summer family vacation and I positively love it.  It helps me get to know the writer and feel like a little part of their world-its so fun to get a glimpse into their personal lives beyond their everyday writing. Cucumber, Apple and Bacon Salad

SONY DSC

This is a fun switch to a classic summer side dish.   Theres so much you can do with this recipe…adding bleu cheese or celery to the mix is wonderful, dried cranberries or cherries instead of apple is pretty delish, too.  But this right here is my favorite variation; crunchy, fresh cucumber, sweet, crisp apple, and smokey bacon make an awesome team paired with the creamy, tangy dressing.   Continue reading
